There is No Doubt That It Was So NamedBecause of the Elm Trees Lining the Carriageway from theMain Road To the House. These Elms Have Long Since Goneand Today Large Lime Trees Flank the Drive. In 1840 theCountry House Becain 1854 It Was Occupied by Rev.Pearson, Director of Great Witley. In 1916 It Was LeasedTo Sir Richard Brooke, a Well Know Racehorse Breeder. HeBought the Elms in 1927 and Re-Sold It in 1946 To theMoton Family Who Then Turned It Into a Country HouseHotel.
