Here in 1687, on the banks of the Berg River, farm lands were given to Dutch settlers, just 30 years after Jan van Riebeeck's landing at the Cape. Paarl, with its 75,000 inhabitants, is today the biggest town in the Cape Winelands. - · From: the north. Turn left into Main Road. Continue on Main Road for approximately 3½ kilometers. Turn right at the three-way robot into Berg River Boulevard. Turn right into Cecilia Street. Continue on Cecilia Street for approximately 200 meters. Goedemoed Country Inn is situated on the left hand side and there are two flag poles at the entrance to the property.
