Located at the foot of the Upper Arkansas Valley where the Sawatch, Sangre de Cristo and the Mosquito Ranges converge, Salida is known for its mild climate and more than three hundred days of sunshine per year. The area caters to the outdoor enthusiast, with fishing, kayaking, or rafting on the Arkansas River. Hiking, mountain climbing, biking, and jeep tours to old mining towns are also popular activities.
